Experiment- double exposure final 

Monochromatic version- this was my preferred finsihed photo at the end as after the colour photo i played about with the gradiant and made it black and white which reflects the photo i was looking at emulating. The photo has more drama and contrast,but again it needs to be less busy landscape and the hands need to be taken at a birds eye veiw angle. Also i will fade the phot from the centre of the hands to show more of the finger tips.  

Colour version- this worked fairly successfully as it shows the landscape through the hands but overall the landscape is too busy and there isn't a main focus point. To develop this further I will take a more isolated photo and play about the contrast and levels.   

 I've tried to emulate this photo by experimenting with taking photos of cupped hands and using landscape photos to double expose. This uses high contrast clouds which stand out and then the distance is very clear which gives the boat the main focus point. The high contrast of the black and white adds drama to the photo which again draws the eye. 

Repeated Experiment 

I first made my hand photo black and white and added some contrast by changing the levels which gave more tone and natural shadows.

I then added my waterfall composition on top of the original layer and also made this black and white. I then changed the opacity to around 70% which gave the overlying, sightly transparent effect. Finally I rubbed out the edges of the waterfall shot to reveal areas of the fingers like the original copy. The waterfall photo also worked more effectively then my first experiment as this has a focal point in the centre like the boat which my original didn't so nothing drew the eye to the photo.

 Panoramas

 I took this Overall i thought this worked successfully, and the main features i like is the deep, blue clear sky against the outline of the roof points which add levels and height to the photo.

 

This one wasn't as effective as the left side is slightly blurred and there is too much woodland in the picture and the view into the distance isn't very clear. There also wasn't much contrast in colours so its nit as eye catching. 

This was taken on top of Grinshill and overall i think it looks effective  as the vibrant green stands out against the cloudy sky, there is also lots of texture with the rocks which create differnt levels. The depth is also fair which draws the eye again as there is a large depth of veiw that is in focus.

Small Planets

I developed these panoramas further by making them into small panets on photoshop which I think looks very effective, I like the first which the constrating clouds and the vibrand land tha stands out, I also like the second as the detail in the builidng stand out and the different hights created catched the eye. 

 

Photo Analysis

This photo was taken by Ed Collacott who specialises in landscape photography,and is taken in the Lake District. The main subject of this photo is colour and symmetry, the vibrant blue sky stand out in this and compliments the orange and browns in the landscape. The rolling hills also gives a large sense of depth as there are blurred sections in the distance and also the v-shaped valley gives a focus point and gives composition. Symmetry is also a large part in this and plays tricks with the eye as it almost looks like the lanscape carries on at the bottom of the picture but instead its the lake. The natural symmetry is pleasing to the eye and gives the picture balance. The mood of the photo is very happy with the bright colours  reflecting life and growth.          

Photography Analysis

This photograph was taken by Peter Watson who is an award winning landscape artist, it is taken in the Scottish Highlands in Glen Coe. The main aspect in this is light and how it seeps through the dark landscape and mountains, which has been critically timed to catch the right light. The image overall has a lots of drama and is very contrasting with the dark and bright colour which give such a visual impact. The content of the photo almost has a sense of freedom with the towering mountains and the vast free land that's been untouched. Overall the photos very natural and organic using natural shapes by the mountains creating dynamic heights.

Final Images

This worked well and fits with my landscape theme and the picture is the back of a person looking into a distnace and the crop field has lots of depth.

Tilt shift

I found this silt shift looked effective because it shows the dynamic lines of the spiders web and draws the eye to the centre. The blur also has a dreamy feel to the photograph, and the frosted web gives it a cool atmosphere. If I did this next time i would link it  to my theme and try it with landscape photographs. 

I have also edited a picture further and made it monochromatic which adds more drama to the picture and the blurred background again shows the detail of the melting frost. The angle the picture has been taken at also gives depth and the many lines further add depth and a focus point.
